Engineering/Science/Packaging Material Science Discipline or an equivalent entry point

Basic qualifications:

Preferred qualifications:

Third Level qualification in an Engineering/Science/Packaging Material Science Discipline or an equivalent entry point

Project Management Diploma as certified by IPMA

Job Description:

The Consumer Healthcare mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer.

Consumer Healthcare are seeking a Value Engineering Packaging Project Lead to join their largest manufacturing facility in Dungarvan which consists of two general manufacturing locations set side by side in the county of Waterford, Ireland. This site provides products to three business categories within our Consumer Healthcare. Pain Relief category as Dungarvan is the home of the Panadol brand, Oral care category where Dungarvan is the primary manufacturing location of the Polident and Corega product brands and the Respiratory category as the site is the sole manufacturing location of the Nicorette brand products.

Dungarvan meets it consumer’s needs for finished packed goods through 4 value streams consisting of 21 packaging lines producing 8 different types of packaging formats. The Value Engineering Packaging Project Lead will be required to lead packaging projects sitting within a larger and substantial cost saving programme within Dungarvan where the position will be responsible for the planning, feasibility assessment, and implementation through site defined procedures of various cost saving projects relating to primary, secondary and tertiary packaging sitting within the value streams serving the needs of Pain Relief and Oral care categories.

The role will report to the European Technical Packaging Support Manager

Key responsibilities will include:

Lead the planning, pre implementation and implementation activities of packaging cost saving projects

Understanding, managing and influencing the technical packaging elements of the cost saving packaging projects

Manage packaging component and packaging equipment supplier delivery of critical project deliverables

Ensure all aspects of the cost saving packaging projects comply to internal and external market requirements 

Build relationships with key stakeholders at site, within the wider corporation and market contacts supporting the sale of the products to promote a smooth change process to achieve the cost savings.

Understand the key interactions between raw materials and equipment during manufacture and the resulting transformations

Plan and lead packed product testing, equipment trials and process validations as per procedures

Able to articulate risks/issues and determine agreed/supported mitigations with the product stakeholders

 

To be successful for this position, you will ideally have the following

Background in pharmaceutical, medical devices, manufacturing or FMCG would be desirable

Experience based within the packaging function (min 3-5 years)  which demonstrates a working/practical knowledge of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging manufacturing processes

Demonstrated experience to provide a consultative and collaborative approach to driving business outcomes across multiple functions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Effective presentation skills to communicate key messages and ideas in one-to-one settings and large groups
