Overview
Kenny Whelan are recruiting a Finance Team Lead for our Global Pharmaceutical client
This position is responsible for leading the GS Finance Center of Excellence European team based in Cork, and will report directly to the Global CoE Lead. This person will work very closely with the EU GS Finance Team Leader in Grange Castle.
Responsibilities

Managing the performance framework for the team including metrics, issue/opportunity identification and closure, continuous improvement projects and end to end process focus.

Leading efforts to continuously engage and develop GS Finance CoE colleagues – provide coaching and mentoring to Finance Analysts, including career development guidance and performance management feedback.

Managing the relationship with the site Finance Directors and associated teams, operational stakeholders and other site based colleagues to ensure a positive partnership is in place. This includes having regular one to ones with site finance stakeholders, planning site visits, looking for areas of collaboration and determining and implementing action plans following the voice of the customer surveys.

Support the Global GS Finance CoE Lead in developing the vision and strategic direction for the EU GS Finance CoE group

Partner effectively in a team environment to deliver quality finance services to the business. Partners include site finance, other site stakeholders, GFS and Controllers, etc.

Provide support to the GS CoE Leadership team as required, including the support of Global Process Teams in specific process areas (e.g. PPV, FRI)

Actively support a strong OWNIT culture in the team.
Continuous Improvement (CI)

Relentless pursuit of continuous improvement within the team both locally and with a global perspective clearly demonstrated.

Encourage and manage continuous improvement projects necessary to support year-over-year productivity/efficiency objectives

Challenge existing processes and procedures on an ongoing basis to identify standardization and efficiency opportunities to be leveraged across the GS CoE network

Initiate/lead CI projects using 6σ technology, support, encourage and coach colleagues on same.

Drive the performance of the team through appropriate metrics and delivery of the CoE roadmap.
Pending the areas of specialism being covered, the following areas of responsibility and corresponding activities may be applicable to the EU GS Finance Team Leader (Cork):
Compliance
-
Ensure high levels of compliance with company accounting policies and procedures both for CoE processes as well as the sites that the CoE supports. Responsible for audit outcomes (both corporate and statutory) for the CoE and also supporting those activities across the GS sites supported

Support the Compliance Lead in all compliance activities, including, but not limited to:

Co-ordination of internal, external and tax audits for EU GS sites,
-
Development of Risk Control Matrices and development of enhanced processes for completion and alignment of controls

Impairment, ASL, FCPA reviews

Development of documentation strategy for the EU GS COE (process flows, RCMs, Work Instructions, etc)

Coordinate and complete activities required to meet SOX and internal control requirements. This will include, but is not exclusive to, balance sheet reconciliations and reviews, month end close reports, journal entries as appropriate, user access reviews, FCPA reports, etc
Month End Close Processes
-
Coordinate and review performance of sites for GS CoE process areas at month end close, including but not restricted to, an overview of the areas of PPV, spend, capital, VEMP, deferrals, etc

Complete all relevant approvals, including but not limited to, RMS approvals, significant journals, etc, within the required timeframe

Provide EU GS COE results to EU GS COE Leader
Reporting
-
Ensure the site monthly reporting requirements are complete and issued on a timely basis working in conjunction with the site finance colleagues
-
Perform review of draft spend reports at month end. Partners directly with analysts and customers for any specific queries
-
Oversee completion of balance sheet reconciliations for relevant areas
-
Oversee performance of value add analytical review of spend and trends
-
Support the stabilisation and enhancement of the Financial Reporting Initiative (FRI)
Other
-
Manages interactions with site finance teams to ensure seamless support to the sites on all areas (compliance, month end, reporting, budgeting and forecasting)

Supports projects to enhance and standardise specific areas of focus throughout the EU GS COE

Support other areas such as budgeting, forecasting, etc
Requirements

People Management Experience
-
Experience in core manufacturing finance skills including compliance, month end processes, site forecasts, reporting budgeting and forecasting

Ability to effectively communicate complex financial topics in a virtual work environment

Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and colleagues in all functional areas of the Company

Ability to work in a hug performing team environment
